On January 8, 2024, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) notified the Crozer Chester Medical Center that accreditation for its general surgery residency program was being withdrawn ‘under special circumstances’ – and that the program had to shut down in four days.
This video tells the story of what happened.

But actually, the real story is much bigger than that. In fact, the whole reason I decided to tell this one is because the villains aren’t necessarily who you think they’ll be, and the lessons transcend any one program – and instead highlight bigger problems in American health care, and maybe America at large.
