…and MORE podcasts

Not long ago, I highlighted some of the guest appearances I’ve made on various podcasts.

But since then, I’ve appeared on more.

So if you want to hear me prattle on about all manner of medical education topics, give these a listen.

(Running time 52 minutes)

Knock Knock, Hi! with the Glaucomfleckens

Is the Match Broken?

We covered a lot of ground, from the 2026 NRMP Match Winners & Losers to the “physician shortage” to the research arms race. Check it out on Apple Podcasts or YouTube.

(Running time – 50 min)

Behind the Knife

Rigged or Right? The Residency Match Under Fire

The focus here was the House Judiciary Committee’s report on the “Match monopoly.” Listen to the episode on Apple podcasts.

(n.b., if you want an even deeper dive on this topic, there is a full Sheriff of Sodium Fact Police video breaking down the House Judiciary Committee’s report and analyzing whether we are better off with a residency match – or not).

(Running time 51:02)

BackedBriScience

Episode #37: Step Scores, Matching, and the State of Medicine

A wide-ranging conversation from the origins of the Sheriff of Sodium to the impacts of the residency selection arms race and what it takes to be happy in medicine. This one is also available on both Apple and Spotify.

(Running time 43:18)

A Good Omen

On Evaluating Incentives In Medicine, The Constraints of Changing MedED, & Expertise in A.I. Driven Medicine

We discussed evidence-based approaches to medical education, physician workforce policy, and artificial intelligence, with a focus on incentives, expertise, and sustainable reforms in physician training.

You can listen to this one on Spotify.

The Doctor’s Lounge

Salty About Medical Education: Carmody on What The System Gets Wrong

(Running time – 1h, 8 min)

This one also covered a lot: from whether blowing up the match would improve resident salaries, to the “physician shortage” and whether supply-induced demand is real, to preference signaling and a look back at what changed with a pass/fail Step 1. It’s on Apple podcasts (with video on YouTube).

(Running time – 56:08)

The Short Coat

Foreign Competition for Residency: The Data vs. the Rhetoric

The focus here was on the $100,000 H1B visa. Ironically, the day after the episode aired, a federal judge struck down the fee as an illegal tax. Still, we touched on some topics that are evergreen, like the “physician shortage” and physician advocacy.

Listen on Apple, YouTube, or Spotify.

And as always, a disclaimer: Some of these podcasts have commercial sponsors. But for me, all of this is pro bono. I didn’t accept any payment for any of these interviews, and my appearance shouldn’t be taken as an endorsement for any product or service. Finally, while I hope to convince others of my way of thinking, the opinions I expressed are only mine.
